BootsnAll.com is the ultimate resource for independent travellers. Whether you are planning a trip, actually on a trip, just back from a trip or simply thinking about travel, BootsnAll.com probably has a resource or two that may interest you.

Lonely Planet publishes the world’s best guidebooks for independent travellers. Their books are known worldwide for reliable, insightful, pull-no-punches travel information, maps, photos, and background historical and cultural information.

While we wound up not choosing to book our tickets through AirTreks, their website was an invaluable tool in planning our trip. Just use their TripPlanner utility to create your own multi-stop journey, and they’ll calculate the range or prices you’ll be looking at.
XE.com
We’ve been using XE.com for our currency conversions, mostly because its name is so damn easy to remember.

Hostelz.com has hostel reviews and photos, and it’s the most complete hostels guide on the web (with over 14,000 listings). Guests can post comments about their own experience at hostels (about 19,000 comments have been posted so far).

We initially met professional chef Paul Reiss on the second day of our trip, during our first visit to Buenos Aires. He gave us a couple of cooking lessons when we visited him in Leeds, and the man is a fantastic teacher! If you’re lucky enough to live in his area, I highly reccommend checking out his website.

We met California native Chris Purdy when we were in Argentina. Chris is an award-winning professional photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries and public spaces in San Francisco and Southern California. He’s currently preparing for an October 2006 show of his Argentina work.
