Let's say you've been dreaming of this trip for years. More than that, actually. Let's say that whether you knew it or not, you've been dreaming of this trip for most of your life.
Making it happen was the hardest thing you've ever done. But now it has happened, and you're really here, you're really doing it. In fact, it's been real for so long now that you've almost forgotten to keep pinching yourself to make sure you're not dreaming.
And, somehow, the best parts aren't what you thought they would be. The amazing stuff you spent so much time dreaming of and planning, it's all just as wonderful as you'd hoped. But other things, silly little everyday things, those somehow turn out wonderful, too.
Last night we stayed in. Today is Jessica's last day of Spanish class, and she had a lot of homework, so we scrapped plans to go out for dinner together. We stayed in and I cooked something simple while she worked.
We were sitting on the couch in the common room of the hostel. She was doing her homework, and I was flipping through what was on TV other than seven channels of futból and thirteen channels of children's programming.
And then I came across Sabrina.
It's a sentimental favorite of ours, that silly little film, and we happened to catch it at just about the beginning. It was the 1995 version, with Harrison Ford playing Humphrey Bogart and Julia Ormand playing Audrey Hepburn, and it was subtitled in Spanish.
And suddenly there you are, sitting in a hostel in Buenos Aires, and she's doing Spanish homework on the couch next to you. And then Linus Larrabee says that he needs to be saved, and she puts her head on your shoulder. And you remember to pinch yourself.
You must be dreaming.
But you aren't.

The reason I put my head on your shoulder at the point in the movie when Linus says he needs to be saved, is because it totally felt like that scene was written for us. I felt like I must have said that exact sentence years ago to myself…and then I met you…and now we're here. Meow.
You are very sweet. But you are also very sneaky with this post.
You guys are awesome.
